Context

Final team project for HCDD 264 at Penn State University. Designed a centralized mobile marketplace app to streamline local vehicle discovery, purchasing, and private selling.

Problem

Car buyers and private sellers face fragmented marketplaces characterized by disorganized listings, inaccurate location filters, and opaque pricing, leading to high search friction and distrust.

Solution

Designed an end-to-end mobile experience featuring granular filtering (make, mileage, year, radius), transparent financing and delivery options, and a step-by-step guided checkout and listing flow to maximize user confidence.

Process & Key Insights

  • User Research: Surveyed first-time and experienced car buyers to identify major friction points in buying and selling.
  • Findings: Users struggled with spotting mechanical/listing red flags, distrusted seller transparency, and felt overwhelmed navigating auto loans.
  • Design Iteration: Translated insights from low-fidelity wireframes into an interactive high-fidelity prototype focused on guided onboarding, clear cost breakdowns, and verified listing badges.
The PDF below showcases the specific screens/user flows I designed.
